For a WH that does not know anything about Jonathan Gruber, go to the WH web pages and type in Gruber’s name. Hurry before they take it down.

Good one Russ. last night AM 780 played audio of Obama telling the audience back when that their ideas are so good that he is stealing them. “Their” means the 4 people he mentioned by name, one of which was Jon Boy Gruber. I still think Gruber is one hell of a good public healthcare policy wonk and he knew and modeled the true costs like no one else. He was exactly spot on on how to fool the CBO. He was 100% right, on how to present Obamacare to the dummies, despite his lib arrogance. Pure genius. I don’t condone his actions, but like the 9/11 attacks, the plan was great and it got pulled off almost flawlessly. Just saying…
No one has ever explained to me how to achieve diversity without counting heads. To me it’s still a quota by any other name.

What’s the big deal? The illegals leave mountains of trash in protected wetlands on a daily basis and not one Marxist Liberal greenie says a solitary word. I shudder to think of the fine imposed on a John Q Public type if he ever left plastic jugs in the protected wetlands.
I know, I know. I am being a big fat meanie. A real stick in the mud to boot. How can we ever expect them to pick up after themselves. It’s up to the adults to clean up the kids’ room and pay for the ride. Oh, I get it now. We just have to wait until they grow out of it. Yeah right. We should all just pay it forward.
What do you call a boomerang that doesn’t come back? A friggin stick.

Diversity is the new affirmative action and is achieved through partiality and favoritism. Another term for them is “reverse discrimination” and it’s every bit as wrong as any kind of discrimination.

Re Climate Change – Russ Steele’s Sierra Foothill Commentary has a couple of interesting posts. One covers the latest blast from our local source of truth and justice, SBC’s Steven Frisch, excoriating AGW skeptics. The other is a commentary on a piece from SFGate by Jon Carroll, celebrating consensus science as the “trusted” salvation of the great unwashed, that beautifully illustrates the workings of the lightly-read, science-free liberal mind. Here are the links –

Since Frisch is not a “scientist” I take his input as simply opinion. He does not have the skill or smarts to know the difference in what he reads on the subject. He is just a political operative. So, let him spew. No biggee!

ToddJ 321pm – With all due respect, I have a another view of Mr Frisch’s opinions. While what you say is true, it is nevertheless a “biggee” because he is the voice of legions like him. Through him we are made aware of what people burdened by such deficiencies think, of how they act, and why they vote like they do. For us Mr Frisch is an accessible window into the sum and substance of the progressive mind which has been wreaking havoc across our land for at least forty years. It for that reason that we need pay attention to such effluent, else we know not how to avoid or cleanse ourselves of it.

We often read on Lefty Jeffie’s blog and YubaNet about how Steven Frisch is presenting his lefty philosophy to the Board of Supervisors and City Council Meetings, spreading his progressive havoc across the political spectrum in Nevada County. He thinks he is a “biggee” and that is of concern to everyone interested in the truth.

George I don’t disagree with your assessment about the failed restauranteur Frisch. My point is that when a person on the right says anything about “global warming” Frisch and his ilk tar and feather the poor fellows with derision about their lack of science. Like Tea Party folks or even me. Yet when a liberal like Frisch speaks, we are supposed to take him seriously. He is a lib political activist paid to spread his crud all around the barnyard. He must be exposed for his lack of knowledge and education on the sciences.

I do not recall having previously heard that anybody is supposed to take Steve Frisch seriously. Rather than whimper about such an imagined requirement, Todd, I also recommend that you expose him. You might first consider that his debate skills (as well as his knowledge of science) may exceed yours, though, and that he can likely reveal your confirmation biases with ease. But, hey, I’d love to see you prove him (And me!) wrong.
    Have at it, stud.

Its an honor to have the crabman make fun of me twice. I loved his creatures of October in the union recently. On a larger issue I saw an article reporting that the French actually denied the Russian Crew that is in training at their port access to the finished Mistral assault ship Monday! They let an ‘inspection delegation’ come on board Tuesday but no other access will be allowed. Its snowball day in hell. Is NATO growing a pair? The Poles just ordered an amazing amount of tank penetrator ammunition for their Leopard 2’s. Its great that we have defense minded chairmen taking control of Congress. I pray we do not pay for having no defense policy other than a spin reaction to events after the fact.

Besides, after all these years, I never looked for him on Google even though he used his own name. He is a grad from a tech school apparently and that makes him smarter than me I suppose.
When I was a high schooler I worked in a local market ROP program and delivered groceries to homes. I used to deliver to Dr. and Mrs. Hare out at their home on Bitney Sprongs. They were nice people, not pretentious like GVG employee Kesti. Also, my Dad built the first campus building for the Doctor at the Bitney property. I even worked as a hod carrier for the maintenance building Dad built there. I was 14. Aw those memories when I was just a stupipid kid.

Congratulations, Todd. You appear to have found my LinkedIn listing. I have no problem with that as you’ll find nothing in it, or anywhere else on the ‘net, that I am motivated to hide and it is public information.
The extent of my “sniffing your butt” amounts to pointing out when you have most spectacularly demonstrated a lack of class which I believe amounts to perhaps three or four occasions. I don’t recall having criticized your history nor calling you any names. Until yesterday I had not reflected on the extent of your intellect although there have been some that have been more candid concerning that topic. Other than you, nobody has claimed that I or those others have been in any way incorrect.

Frisch’s science knowledge is as big a zero as Todd’s. Frisch is more of a literate trained monkey and can string words together that sound like science, but there is no understanding behind it.
There’s more science in building a house than in politics, tax fraud or drunk driving, but to the extent Todd gets climate science more correct is only because his political allies are closer to the truth than Frisch’s are, by accident.

Greg is right. I actually debate AGW from a political POV because that is what is to me. Ever since I wrote my first OP_ED pointing that out in the 90’s I have debated it politically. I am not a scientist I am a home-builder/entrepreneur/political man. But I do think Greg has it right that the people I trust with that are the smart science people, have the truth about it. Frisch is a talking monkey and now we see that so is Kesti. But at least Kesti has class.

“Greg has it right that the people I trust with that are the smart science people, have the truth about it.”
    From Dick Feynman (altogether now):
“It doesn’t matter how beautiful your theory is, it doesn’t matter how smart you are. If it doesn’t agree with experiment, it’s wrong.”
    and
“The first principle is that you must not fool yourself and you are the easiest person to fool.”
It isn’t” about how smart any particular scientist is. Many of the smartest people on the planet resisted modern physics, too, because QM just didn’t fit the science framework they’d constructed in their head to make sense of what *had been the common wisdom of the time, and they followed much the same pattern that climate alarmists have been taking when faced with inconvenient data that doesn’t fit.
It comes down to “We need better data that will show what we know must be there!!!” But other scientists, some by accident, some because they suspected other mechanisms, have identified numerous problems with the alarmist scenarios and alternate frameworks that more efficiently describe what has been happening, including aerosols, clouds and solar activity, that are being fought tooth and nail because they mean we’re not facing planetary destruction; and not everyone thinks that’s good news.

Speaking of those with superiority complexes, one of the biggest egos in county government was Dennis Cassella, before he retired 12 years ago, now enjoying a $58K plus benefits pension. He and the usual suspects (including Steven “One for the Road” Frisch) have gone apoplectic at Pelline’s over that The Union column that, horrors!, is pro 2nd Amendment. Cassella writes
“I am waiting for a Supreme Court that can read the Second Amendment, all of it, in context.
Letters such as the subject one, re-enforce my belief that reasoning with those who will not hear is a waste of my time. Norm’s piece did not change a single mind. I respond by voting for Gabby Gifford with my checkbook.

Dennis, the Roberts court really did read the whole thing, and the current settled law had been so settled in the literature that it’s referred to as “the standard model”. Because a well-regulated militia really is necessary for the security of a Free State, the right of the People to own and carry weapons shall not be infringed… what part of that do you think isn’t inherent in the 2nd’s text?
BTW, back when Dennis was a county mucky-muck, he was doing his best to run the airport into the ground. I recall one of his finer moments, several days after a winter snow ended, county roads had been cleared over and over and over, but the runways were still waiting for their first clearing (despite the county getting big payments from the state to keep the runway cleared for distressed aircraft as the nearest airport to the west of Donner Pass). Cassella’s retort was that all the snow wasn’t cleared from the Rood Center parking lots, either.
    What a guy.

Recall how “O” stated “there may be some attacks we will just have to absorb.” ( that means do jack shit about.)
In a morbid way, I hope Hillary does run for Pres. She will have to explain why she tucked tail and ran. The head bump excuse just isn’t going to cut it. She will have to justify here resignation when the heat got turned up. A nice convenient way of getting away from the questioning. Yet she was the job of President?
