Any thoughts on the report/rumor that the Russians disabled one of Aegis destroyers in the Black Sea by overflying it with a new ECM weapon (emitting an EMP?)? If true, this could be a real game changer as Putin takes advantage of our Misguided Messiah’s two remaining years in office.

Grand Pu bah George,, I do believe a hard link to “The Scooper” is in order.

Doc. I do hope your post of that supposed EMP attack is only rumor.
I was under the impression our “equipment” had been tested and “hardened” against such
vulnerabilities. The damage an EMP could do was well known way back in the 80’s.
Now that Russia is planning fights in the Gulf of Mexico with “other” aircraft, the possibilities of even more potent EMP devices is more than likely.
I guess we are seeing the “flexibility” “O” was talking about once again.LikeLike
-
A domestic EMP story. When electronic ignition systems were first introduced in the US, I think it was Volvo, it was very vulnerable to CB tranmissions. Truckers often bought illegal high powered CB amplifies, 100 to 200 Watts out put. If one of these vulnerable vehicles was next to a truck with a high powered CB and the driver keyed the mike, it disabled the ignition system and the vehicle had to be towed to the repair facility and new system installed.
A three letter agency approached a company I worked for to develop an EMP device that could be used to safely stop a vehicle they were chasing. Safely was the problem. It is possible to disable a modern vehicle with it’s computer driven systems with a high powered pulse of energy, but it was hard to target a specific vehicle and not impact other near by vehicles, and the impact was instant which could lead to an unsafe crash. The three letter agency want a way looking for another solution. I recently read about a government request for technology to take control of a fleeing vehicle to bring it to a slow stop at the road side. No idea if any company responded.
That raises the question about the Aegis destroyer. Was it the only ship in the region and the only ship that was damaged? Nearby US ships should have detected some radiation from an EMP device if they were present. The US ship was being shadowed by a Russian destroyer, could they have been working together? We need more information.LikeLike

I’m pretty sure that they all did. Hyperbole aside, it wouldn’t surprise me to find out that the 2015 “Black Box” requirement from NHTSA/DOT has this capability built in to it. Not for every stop…just the real important ones!

Hollande raises specter of war over climate change
PARIS (Reuters) – French President Francois Hollande said failure to address global warming could lead to war, and called on G20 countries to act ahead of a climate change conference in Paris next year.
“We will meet again in Paris to sign a global agreement that will prevent the planet from experiencing global warming of as much as three or four degrees (Celsius), which could lead to catastrophe, if not war,” Hollande said at the G20 summit in Brisbane.
“One way to prevent conflicts and catastrophe is by taking decisions.”
Hollande hopes countries will sign binding agreements to limit global warming to two degrees at the conference, which will run from Nov. 30 to Dec. 11, 2015.
At the G20 summit, other nations overrode host Australia’s attempts to keep climate change off the agenda and agreed to call for strong action with the aim of adopting a binding protocol at the Paris conference.

fish 1247pm – It appears that Hollande’s intelligence in the science sector is about as bottom scraping as that of most world leaders. Ignoring that we have neither the data nor the tools to guide human efforts to affect climate change, he continues to make outlandish statements relating the prospects of war and exactly what??!! Yes, there may be future wars for whatever reasons, invariably propagandized to hide the real causes, but in 2014 to finger unproven and uncontrollable AGW as the driver of belligerence is beyond idiocy.

From Hollandes standpoint It’s only idiocy if it fails as a political gambit. The French people are as much subject to the Gruber Hypothesis as are we…ten bucks says he pulls it off!

We have been conversing on family history lately. Now to dig into the politics.
What we did talk about is that their version of “race hate ” is one sided. The “immigrants”(Muslims) can disparage all they like, but if a Swede makes a remark the wrong way, it’s a crime. Kind of like the reverse racism here.LikeLike

Sweden has a problem:
With well over 100,000 more Muslims arriving every year, Sweden is changing rapidly. There is no chance that the country can integrate so many Islamic refugees and immigrants, and as a consequence, they create their own settlements with their own values. More Jihad Watch articles on Sweden here.
Translated by Nicolai Sennels, via 10news.dk (click for more news and donations):
A new report from the Swedish National Police Board shows that the number of criminal networks are increasing. And now they are no longer only in major cities, but in 55 areas spread across 22 cities. They are especially in vulnerable areas where many immigrants live. It is very bad in the southern suburbs of Stockholm, for example, Sodertalje (Muslim-dominated area), but also Northeast Gothenburg (Muslim-dominated area) is subject to this phenomenon. Common for such areas is that the criminals are trying to take control of or affect the citizens and the surrounding area. โฆ
Here is another story about the problem:
In the first seven months of 2013, over 1,000 Swedish women reported being raped by Muslim immigrants in the capital city of Stockholm. And thatโs the numbers only for Stockholm! Over 300 of those were under the age of 15. The number of rapes is up 16% so far this year compared to 2012 numbers. A large proportion of the increase include rape of young [pre-teen] girls.LikeLike

Eventually the dominant of the multiple personalities asserts itself……
Gentlemen….I give you Gloria Zane…..
…….so I took it for a test drive this past weekend, typing in the names of some of the biggest and nastiest loudmouths in (and in some cases, out of) the local blogosphere, typically peaking during the election season (including the latest one) with their threats, assorted baloney and personal attacks. And this just includes the ones who sign their names (though I suspect thereโs some overlap).
My cursory research has generated some of the most astounding court cases and allegations Iโve ever seen. As Alice in Wonderland said to Dorothy of the Wizard of Oz: โIโve seen some weird s***.โ In a few cases there are nearly two dozen court cases PER PERSON. The only good news is that most of them are โclosed.โ
The moral: โPeople in glass houses should not only not be throwing stones, they ought to be as quiet as church mice.โ
BTW, donโt comment here on the individual cases. I donโt have time to monitor them.
I’m not sure what is more sad…that you would eventually resort to the threat of blackmail or that you thought that saying that a “friend” sent you the link would convince any of the regulars on either site that you have friends instead of people who are vaguely aligned politically and use your site as a forum but who in private who would probably admit that you are a vile and loathsome swine.
Don’t know what you’ve stumbled on from the crime rolls…..I can guess though…..youthful chemical indiscretions mostly…..maybe a bar fight or two….slapped an ex-wife during a heated moment! Don’t know….don’t care! Since I have never been to Nevada City and last drove through Grass Valley over a decade ago (and managed to avoid any interaction with local law enforcement) I’m guessing this threat doesn’t concern me. A crack reporter/coffee retrieval specialist like yourself after discovering my name probably should have investigated the area in which I live (hint: additional…ahem….”cursory research” of the Sacramento County database will be…..much like your sex life…another dry hole).
To those of you who might fall under “Glorias” threat, rest assured, most of your neighbors have similar kinks, failings, and peccadilloes so you are probably in good company. The “sordid” details from my past while indeed sordid aren’t criminal. Remember though, that this person….I can’t bring myself to call him a man (technical note: it would probably require an external examination far more extensive than the individual in question would permit to discover any external genitalia)…. who holds himself out as a paragon of civic and societal virtue, rambling on about “our community” is little more than the bitchy town gossip.
I’ve watched him attempt to disqualify Todds opinion based on his scouring the local tax rolls. Greg has mentioned jeffys past greasy chicanery….he never did retract his baseless claim I’d had a temper tantrum at a Constitution Day parade. Made it up out of whole cloth. He did offer to ‘apologize’ for it, if only I’d retract a statement that he was universally despised at The Union, which had been relayed to me by someone I trust at The Union.. Pretty sure that RL and his former employers at the Union have been on the wrong end of jeffys flabby wrath at some point!
You see jeffy you can’t hold yourself out as moral exemplar while behaving as you do. People may forget…the internet never does.
….hey betcha didn’t know it’s changing how we communicate!LikeLike

What really chaps Bubbabubba’s hide is that we love Fish and accept him with open arms. But…but….but he is a flatlander! Oh, silly BubbaBubba, we must be more inclusive. It’s that part of the Holy Grail of Frisco Values?
Now, I have on occasion peed on the Purple Pharaoh’s front lawn. I happened to have a medical condition that gives me an excuse…er…a medicinal exemption. Something to due with problems with bladder control. I can pee in the breeze if I please without violating any obscenity laws. The Courts have ruled and backed me up 100%. It is legal when nature calls.
Of course I would never consider doing the ole bag of doggie-doo afire on the front stoop with the accompanied door bell ditch routine. That would be considered trespassing or mislichiveos mischief. Besides my legs don’t move like they used to.
Peeing on the King Without A Robe’s front yard where no other options are available is 100% legal for a “disabled” person such as moi. One of the benefits of being a law abiding citizen and all around good fella.LikeLike

Nice try on diverting us with a bit of levity Mr fish (103pm), but no cigar ๐
Try this one on instead. Missouri’s governor is declaring an anticipatory emergency before the grand jury delivers its probable verdict vindicating the police officer who killed Michael Brown as he allegedly attacked the officer, and emerged from demonstrably robbing a convenience store. All the social agitators have converged on St Louis to make sure the world gets a picture of the US as a race-baiting, race-hating nation where nothing has changed in the last hundred years. And, of course, the whole thing is implicitly led from the WH given their recent statements and the AG’s visit re the Brown case, and their explicit silence now that does not support Missouri’s legal machinery proceeding in a correct and just manner.LikeLike

I don’t know what happened! I have been listening to the Tom Sullivan Show this afternoon and from what I hear the only “justice” the black community is interested in is Officer Wilsons crucifixion. As I said I wasn’t there so I don’t know the details and frankly these days this stuff makes my eyes glaze over. I know that if I had a cop pinned in his car and was wrestling for his gun he would be well within his rights to shoot me….and as a white guy….this incident might have been mentioned after the classifieds.
Again an excerpt from a writer who invariably sends KKKrazy Doug Keachie to his fainting couch:
Reflect: Every white cop short of the orbit of Neptune knows that if he shoots a black, he faces dismemberment in the media, loss of job and pension, probable criminal charges locally by a publicity-seeking prosecutor, a well-funded civil suit that he canโt afford filed by surviving family members, and trumped-up federal civil-rights charges from an attorney general who doesnโt like whites.
All this because he wants to shoot a black kid for jaywalking?
http://www.fredoneverything.net/Ferguson.shtml
In fact you would do well to peruse most of Mr. Reeds offerings. I find them grounded and reasonable. I know others of a more delicate and idealistic nature will find them off putting!

I find the prospect of potential martial law quite stimulating….it’s the relentless back and forth regarding the sequence of events leading up to it that I find utterly useless. Michael Brown was shot in the back…Michael Brown was shot while walking towards the cop with his hands up…Michael Brown was on his knees in a position of supplication when Officer Brown walked up and shot him in the face….Michael Brown was riding his unicycle minding his own business ……it goes on!

Some of us remember when the Watts riots broke out that lovely long hot summer and the riots the following year. 30 cities ablaze and some, like Watts, have areas that still have not rebuilt. Reminiscent of the bombed out buildings still standing in parts of Germany. Not pretty. Still have that imagine in my mind of convey after convey of National Guard trucks, jeeps, and big guns streaming down I-5 towards LA. We were on a family vacation and had a great view out the backseat of the station wagon. I figured something was going on. Did Mom leave the oven on?
This won’t be pretty either, no matter what the jury decides. Once had a dear mentor whom I miss terribly. He has since passed. A very intelligent man, graduated from Cal around 1936, and boldly declared himself a carry carrying socialist and liberal through and through. He once told me that nothing scares America more than the angry black man.
Think he was right. The civil rights leaders have been sitting on their thumbs for decades now with nothing to do except an occasional ambulance chasing. Their moment to recapture the glory days approaches. The Over The Hill Gang will saddle up and ride into the Missouri. Sure, it ain’t Detroit or Memphis, but it will do. This will be an electrifying moment. They remember that it only takes 2 watts to blow up LA.
Think the Obama Administration needs a break from all the critics everywhere coming out of the woodwork to slam his foreign and domestic blunders. Riots always blow everything else off the front pages and evening news. This will be the perfect time to do the Executive Order Illegal Immigrant Thang while everyone is distracted with race relations. He might even be able to sneak in a couple rounds of golf.
Burn, baby, burn. It’s all Fox News’ fault. Too bad a cold front is approaching. Otherwise, it would really be a barn burning rip roaring of a fun time if not for that darn Midwest cold.LikeLike

As I have been getting around town lately, I frankly am shocked at the level of vitriol directed Pelline’s way. My advice to you is to ignore him. Really…just ignore him…he shoots himself in the foot daily. Let him continue the alienation of himself unabated.

You’re right Barry….but frankly he’s such an unpleasant oaf that it’s just a lot of fun! I will try to minimize my cross posts and only address his most blatantly stupid offerings!LikeLike

I understand the fun. Really, I do. What I don’t understand the name calling. Name calling is sophomoric at best and demonstrates a lack of class at worst.
If you (all of you, not just fish) must take your enemy’s bait try doing so with respect, even if faux. Unless you are severely class challenged I suspect doing so will improve your self-respect.LikeLike

Guilty on both counts.
You did see above where I agreed with Barrys suggestion to rein it in a bit!LikeLike

Yes, fish, I saw. I trust that you saw where I went out of my way to point out that I wasn’t criticizing you alone.LikeLike

A while back there was some discussion here concerning the value of teaching arts in the public schools. I submit the following as evidence of that value.

No, no….but I’m admittedly the worst offender. That’s all!LikeLike

MichaelK 1233pm – Thanks for that addition to the dialogue; all true. But what we don’t want to confuse here is that arts should be taught and have their own place of merit in public schools, and not be an add-on to the schools’ STEM curricula and programs.

Lefty Jeffys liberal lament land continues to provide us with giggles (unintended of course). Jeffys recent gem ” Don, I am a middle of the roader who has voted for democrats and republicans. I called Sheriff Royal to congratulate him on the “win” on measure S but I told him your involvement was counterproductive.” Now that is so funny on so many levels. I am sure the Sheriff was greatly impressed that Lefty Jeffy took the time from his busy schedule as a crack journalist to share a congratulations no matter how disingenuous (note the ” ” on win) NOT! So what is lefty Jeffy saying? Does he mean that if I had sat back and watched we would have won by an even larger margin, say 80-20 or better? I guess it could also be that he felt it was counterproductive to his real goal of passing measure S. Lefty Jeffy may well be viewed as middle of the road by some, perhaps saul alinski, angela davis and the castro brothers in cuba but no one is buying what Lefty Jeffy is trying to sell in Nevada County! ๐
