[Not inviting its continuance here, but I also call your attention to the rather voluminous, detailed, and ongoing Measure S debate between Ms Patricia Smith and Mr Don Bessee at 'Measure S, As It Is'. On that issue the dust has yet to settle. gjr]

I guess Nevada Co. will be making national news on this one.
Nope,, this isn’t going to look good.LikeLike

What gets me, is why TL isn’t locked up. If it was any other ” John Q. Public” that’s just where they would be. Favoritism due to being an elected official?

Latest Union update provides what inquiring minds what to know: details, gory details, with a heads up on Thursday. Noticed the Major Crimes Unit busted a couple up in NSJ for guns, drugs, and child porn. Feel sorry for TL’s girlfriend. She must be devastated having the rug pulled out from under with the walls falling down around her. The closest are often the last to know. Very sad day for her.
Like I said in an earlier post on this thread, I would not touch this with a stolen dick. Get ready for the sound of bullets being fired at The Union as the radical extremist hard left fringe fire a few volleys in another attempt to shoot the messenger. Yikes!
All this local stuff is usually pretty petty and boring. But, I suppose it serves a purpose by blowing Ebola and MSNBC’s 7 year low ratings off the front page and it was a nice brief distraction from the real world of process vs substance. Next up: Local food critic appalled by sign advertising non local jerky. Yawn.LikeLike

Yesterday morning Jo Ann, our puppy Puna, and I attended the placement of the new KVMR tower on Spring Street. It was a festive community gathering with a country music band playing appropriate tunes and about 100 neighbors all witnessing the installation of Nevada City’s new landmark. Lots of chatting with station manager David Levin, KVMR board member Mike Young, and all the usual people we all know living in a small community. We brought our folding chairs and puppy bed, and had the best (only?) seats in the ‘house’ to view the goings on. Jo Ann took a lot of pictures which I’m too lazy to post, especially since Mr Pelline has a very nice one on his blog.

Sorry I missed it. LOL! Small town is right. When I was married my wife had the third floor space above KVMR across the street and I remodeled it into her hair salon. Later a couple of years ago I did the bidding for the insulation of this new building. Of course back when I was in politics I debated a number of lefty scofflaws that had shows on the KVMR dial. Small town is right. I never took my doggy bed though. That has to be a first! LOL!

Catching up…
Master Ben Emery says, “I will go out on a limb and say this has about 0.001% chance of being true. A sitting elected official using public computer to access child pornography, give me a break.”
It would take an awfully stupid or delusional sitting elected official to do that, this is true. Time will tell if the local Right or the Left have had Lamphier correctly characterized.
Jeffy Pelline credits YubaNet’s restraint to Pascale’s experience as a journalist, compared to the rank amateurs at KNCO and The Union, I suppose. That the local left (including both YubaNet and Pelline) want this to go away as a bad political stunt should be no surprise. That may well be the case but if I was a progressive politician being framed in an ugly and defamatory attack under color of authority, I’m sure I could find a great Nevada County lawyer in about 5 minutes to help me craft a strong Denial-Denial (as opposed to a non-denial Denial) to come out swinging.LikeLike

Regarding the tower, let me get this straight: now we have a fake FM transmission tower sitting on the corner of a fake historic building added to the rear of a real historic building, and this is progress?

Really? ” A sitting elected official using public computer to access child pornography, give me a break.”
It sure wouldn’t be the first time. Plenty believe they will never get caught.LikeLike
-
Use a public computer to access child porn? Whenever I’ve said in the past “nobody would be that stupid,” somebody is always that stupid. This may be another example.
It’s bad enough that one of his two favored elected might be in big trouble, but Pelline can’t stand the fact that The Union is doing exactly what it’s supposed to do.
The paper has been aggressive, thorough and fair in its coverage of the Lamphier affair, letting the chips fall where they may. YubaNet limped into this story Tuesday, merely confirming what The Union had already reported, and has done nothing to try to catch up since then.
Lamphier has gone into hiding and has not responded to numerous requests for a comment, but Pelline blames The Union for failing to get his side of the story. Only Jeffy’s acolytes would believe the nonsense he’s peddling.LikeLike

Pelline’s acolytes are all sock puppets. No one really of substance in the community gives him credence anyway.

JeffPelline 456pm – Pray, where did I ever write that???? More of your crack investigative journalism? (This is another matchless revelation of what that man’s career has been like. Readers should note that he used a direct quote. What does this say about the fabrications in his own writings?)
ToddJ 800am – Good words that we should all abide by until at least until TerryL is charged with something. Terry has build up an account as a gentleman in this community, and he deserves the benefit of that. I have been as critical as anyone about his public policies, but never to impugn him as a good human being. Let’s show some class and keep the rumor mill and innuendos at a low. Thanks.LikeLike

Nobody would be that stupid??? I recall a sitting President of The United States and the Leader of the Free World gobbling the goop of a young intern in the Oval Office and cramming cigars up her birth canal. The intern was slightly older than his one and only daughter. Why would he risk it all??? Senseless and reckless. Nobody could be that stupid. Oppps, strike that. From the White to the outhouse, from Yale to jail, people indeed can be that stupid. TL is accused to doing the taboo thang. At least what Clinton did was considered stupid, but not a felony carrying a few years in the Big House. Those inmates do not like child porn lubbers in the least. Almost as bad as being a child rapist to the boys on tier 1-3.

A person who knows at his core that he’s innocent would be in the middle of Main St.
professing his innocents and yelling he was set up to anyone who would listen.
Just ask yourself the same question… “What would you do?” if charged with something you didn’t do? I doubt staying quiet would be at the top of the list.LikeLike

Walt @8:56. Everybody reacts differently to a personal crisis. Some need time to sort it out, some react (rather than respond), others fall into a deep depression and others will go ape crazy and go shoot out every street light in downtown. Just like losing a loved one. People deal with grief differently, and we grieve when we lose something. If this plays out the way I suspect as a possibility, the uncharged person of interest will lose his reputation, his standing in the community, his mate, his home and will be in Federal Court asking for a public defender. He will also lose his community he/she loves as leaving town may be the only viable option upon reflection. No winners here.
Putting the non accused aside and talking about ethics in the workplace in general, I am proud as heck that someone had the gonads big enough to think of our community and care enough to do the right thing by reporting possible child porn surfing at the workplace. The unnamed person must of had suspicions, verified their suspicions to some degree, and turned over whatever evidence they had to someone who would look into it. Whether the unnamed letter writer delivering the goods with photos included was right or completely wrong about TL, just the fact that a person took the bold step to kick it up the chain of command for a review. That took courage, ethics, respect for the law and concern for our little ones.
Secondly, I think our County LE should forward their evidence (if any) to the FBI and let the FBI take over. They have the experience, the expertise, the resources, the advanced forensic labs and technology to make the call. This would relieve our Sheriff’s Office of appearing biased in this fragmented community. The FBI has legions of lawyers, investigators, and resources to recommend charges or drop this torrid matter. And the Bureau is familiar with cases like this. The Martha Steward case reminded us all that lying to a FBI investigator gets someone more time in the Black Hole of Calcutta than the crime itself. Just a thought. An outside agency could be considered an impartial third party at this point.
The only drawback is local reporters would have to drive down to Sac to those beautiful marble floors in the Federal Courthouse. It impressed me and I have seen a lot.
Third, I need to remind myself that this whole matter may affect a candidate running for a two-bit position as a councilperson in a two-bit small town. Not exactly earth shaking nor even a blip on the radar. I wish TL a good night’s sleep, something that one can’t buy or find in dark times.LikeLike

The wonderful difference between Mr. Rebanes blog and Mr. Pellines blog is that Mr. Rebane allows everyone to join in the discussion if they want, whereas Mr. Pelline doesn’t. I am really happy how Yubanet and The Union are collaborating this morning.
http://www.theunion.com/news/13581636-113/web-lamphier-yubanet-elements
Pascale and The Union are showing what teamwork looks like. Jeff Pelline always complains that this community does not collaborate enough. That is just his “rhetorical” way of complaining that nobody wants to work with him and who could blame them. Nobody can collaborate with a narcissist as demonstrated by Pelline’s termination from The Union.
The reporting by Yubanet and The Union and investigation by the Sheriff on this matter has been fair and balanced. We should be proud that our county is doing this the right way. Kudos to Pascale and The Union staff.LikeLike

Barry,
You fool. My blog has been collaborating with the Sacramento Bee (the region’s biggest newspaper) for years.
As “fish” has pointed out, my blog’s content appears on the Bee’s website. In addition, I meet with their staff and some of my articles appear in the Bee’s print edition.
I’m glad The Union is following suit (in this case with YubaNet) but it is following, not leading.
One of the joys of not working at The Union (a tiny newspaper in comparison to the Bee and S.F. Chronicle) is being able to tell fellow residents like you that you are a fool — to your face! LOL.
BTW, I hear you tried to get a job at the Rood Center but weren’t hired. Is that true?LikeLike

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/10/30/as-san-francisco-giants-fans-revel-in-series-victory-celebration-turns-violent/
The Sac Bee collaborates with you becasue they do not really know you. If you are so smart (which I highly doubt), why do you not work at the Chronicle or the Bee? My guess is that they will not hire you either.
Again, kudos to Yubanet and The Union for getting it right…and not waiting five days to report the obvious.LikeLike

Barry…jeffys “contribution” to the Bee appears to be little more linking to work done by others, and aggregated on “Yubanet” (if you can show me evidence of a body of original work I’m happy to see it). Your blog doesn’t count (A position that I believe you yourself held until “you decided to freelance and nobody else even suggest that I should leave the Union under threat of termination”) unless it’s content is in the Bees “Food” or “Local Gossip” sections.
Maybe it’s just like the old days and he fetches coffee for Pascale instead of Herb Caen?LikeLike

The Urban Dictionary on San Francisco Values.
1) . . . tolerance, entrepreneurship, and creativity.
2) noun, — gay marriage, cutting and running from Iraq, coddling terrorists, raising taxes, amnesty for illegals
Which one of the San Francisco Values was it that allowed the Giants to win? Mr Pelline often peppers his economic proclamations with the need for Nevada County to adopt SF Values. Which of those values is he talking about? Maybe he will share is definition and we can see how those values can be applied to some of the real problems in our community.LikeLike

Barry,
They know me, and I have the best of both worlds: getting my content published in the Bee (the biggest paper around), writing my blog and publishing a magazine. I also can call you a fool to your face if I feel like it. It’s liberating.
But you didn’t answer my question about you trying to get a job at the Rood Center but not getting hired. I guess they “know you.” Plus, your resume has more holes in it than a piece of Swiss cheese. I wouldn’t blame them.

Mr Pelline writes: . . . my blog’s content appears on the Bee’s website. In addition, I meet with their staff and some of my articles appear in the Bee’s print edition.
The Bee often needs some puffy pieces to keep the ads from bumping together on the page.
I was one of the original bloggers to sign up for the Bee program and after about six months, left the when it was clear my posts were too conservative for the Sac Bee editors. After a number of exchanges with the editors about their promotion of anthropogenic global warming, while ignoring to the real world data, I just stopped trying.
The Sac Bee is a left leaning news outlet and Mr Pelline’s lefty puff pieces are welcome to help the editors keep their declining number of ads from bumping together.LikeLike

Does anyone know why Jeff Pelline has to come over here to puff himself up when he is the “editor” of his own blog? This is especially puzzling since he claims to be the celebrated liberal journalist of the northern foothills recognized by the region’s major newspapers. Not a Bee subscriber, I wonder what kind of a picture he paints of Nevada County.
I do understand that he may be lonely, and shouting your dressed up platitudes into the empty dark returns only distant echoes. But dear readers do recognize this, since his most recent arrival he has captured the conversation here. No matter its tone or tenor, he must find such an exchange an invigorating welcome. How’s the taste in everyone’s mouth?
