[Time for fresh sand and fresh thoughts. I was pondering the sad case of SecState Kerry. What has that poor nitwit done since being appointed by Obama to push the national peanut ahead? A quick perusal of the man's record reveals nothing that would even give him a tie breaker with his equally accomplished predecessor. There is a possibility that I may have missed an accomplishment that his dual duufuses (duufusi?) - Psaki and Harf- failed to inform us of, or even some remote announcement out of presidential puppet Josh Earnest to burnish the man's image. Readers will no doubt set us straight.]

Pentagon Signals Security Risks of Climate Change
By CORAL DAVENPORTOCT. 13, 2014
WASHINGTON — The Pentagon on Monday released a report asserting decisively that climate change poses an immediate threat to national security, with increased risks from terrorism, infectious disease, global poverty and food shortages. It also predicted rising demand for military disaster responses as extreme weather creates more global humanitarian crises.

Well, Brother Ben, I have no doubt that climate change will bring food shortages to our own Midwest breadbasket with a shorter growing season. Assuming what you say is true, then we must immediately prepare and build up our military to new heights unimagined before, ASAP. Time is of the essence.

And, my Brother Ben, of course we will have more global poverty and hunger. The world’s population continues to explore with all kinds of folks humping like minks and breeding like rabbits. Sure, some farmers are trying to do their best to solve this impending doom, but each time they try to clear some new farmland in a rainforest, they meet stiff opposition from folks thousands of miles away in New York City and our own Sanctuary by the Bay. Our US companies ( such as Monsanto for example) with their thousands of researchers have some great ideas and expertise on how to feed the world, but they also meet stiff resistance by the same crowd thousands of miles for those actually starving to death. Those New York Limo Liberals and those tree hugging dirt worshipers on the Left Coast should be brought up on charges of crimes against humanity.

“poses an immediate threat to national security, with increased risks from terrorism, infectious disease, global poverty and food shortages.”
Wow – we’ve never had any of that before – ever!
I thought we were supposed to stay out of other countries’ business?
Another deeply held left wing tenet of truth that lasted for 2 or 3 nano seconds.
“It also predicted rising demand for military disaster responses as extreme weather creates more global humanitarian crises.”
As opposed to what? Krakatoa, Mt Vesuvius? Note that it didn’t say ‘increased extreme weather’. We’ve always had extreme weather. We just have one heck of a lot more folks to bail out and a more tightly bound world view based on instant communications. It used to be that whole countries were wiped out an we didn’t know anything about it for years. Now it all happens in real time. Of course if the disaster is man made – such as ISIS slaughtering children, we revert to the left’s newest deeply held tenet of truth that we should stay out of other countries’ business. Innocent children in peril only count when we want it to. It’s all relative, don’t you know.
The whole report smacks of a bunch of top brass freaking out about their budget getting cut and they need to suck up to the ruling party to justify getting their moolah back.LikeLike

Since the current subject is lies of D.C. , from “O”‘s own “Baghdad Bob” to AGW, the newest revelation has hit the front pages. Recall those WMDs the LIBS still claim to uh,,”never exist”? Welcome to the newest coverup.
http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/10/14/world/middleeast/us-casualties-of-iraq-chemical-weapons.html?_r=0
But never mind all the tonnage that got shipped to Syria ( You know,, the stuff that Russia is “helping” releave Syria of.)
As for MORE BS from “O” and Co. about just how great the “not war” is going, ( air strikes)
ISIS is taking more territory by the day. Baghdad is now within artillery range.
( funny, tanks and artillery don’t seem to be on “O”‘s target list. Just a flag on a hill, and some beat up pick up trucks.) A 50 thousand dollar missile to destroy a refugee from ” cash for clunkers”. Don’t forget, “O” is personally making the approved target list.
And on the home front, I do recall “O” stating Ebola would never get here. Now the Repubs and even the NRA are to blame for it setting foot on U.S. soil.

Sorry Dr. Rebane, but I am going through a transitional phrase since I took the old XP to the county transfer station, been close to 2 years without the boob tube, and I hate surfing on this I-pad the evil corporation issued me a few months ago. Plus, I have not bothered to register to vote (blasphemy) for the first time since I voted for the Peanut Farmer from Georgia against All American Football Player Gerald Ford. And I feel like doing the Howard Hughes thing and let my fingernail grow real long and tune out.
Can’t help you with any perspective about the fine job Kerry is doing since Hillary bonked her head…..except to say that John Kerry must be busier than a one legged man fighting a forest fire with a fire extinguisher. Thank you for your patience and long suffering with me during this transitional period.
Ok, somebody pleeeeeaszzzzzze help the good doctor out. Does Kerry have Putin shaking in his black belt outfit yet? Help the Doc out and tell us one major or minor accomplishment Kerry was done since taking over after the Ambassador Stevens tragedy. Someone, anyone…..I gotta get ready for my nappy-pooh.LikeLike

I stopped listening to John “Lurch” Kerry when he claimed the worlds biggest challenge is climate change, when climate change has paused for the last 18 years.
Yes climate change is the “biggest challenge we face right now,” so said Kerry – and then he boarded his government 757 jet and flew off to his next destination.
CFACT reported that, in Africa, Kerry told leaders that they should stop creating new farms because “certain agricultural processes can actually release carbon pollution.”
Brilliant – telling the starving in Africa to stop trying so hard to feed themselves because they might affect the climate.
This is how an elitist liberal from Boston views the world.LikeLike

According to her supporters, our last distinguished Sec of State covered herself in glory due to all the miles she travelled. Can’t remember the total, but Kerry just hasn’t gotten there yet. Give him time. How’s that effort against ISIS going? I forget – are we supplying them with air cover or ??? How’s the joint forces thing going? Turkey on board yet? Has Kerry found any lines in the sand?

Russ 7:09 — Your report is leaving out one critical piece of information. The chemical weapons that were found were old discarded weapons from the war with Iran and not part of Bush’s WMD assertion. In fact, the discovery of those chemicals proves that Saddam destroyed his arsenal well prior to the American invasion.

Nice try Joe.. No such thing as “old and discarded” chemical weapons. Those were hid in attempt, and on propose hoping never to be found. Iraq even buried aircraft ( fighter jets)
in hopes to recover them one day.
Now try a better piss poor excuse. Even if an unfinished nuke was uncovered the Bush hating LIBS would still say ” Naaa,, nothing to see here,,,”
I guess the Yellow cake uranium that was discovered a LONG time ago was for peaceful use.
No danger there either.
How bout that Ebola Joe? Another new case today! Nope,, It’s not a danger to us according to “O” and Co. Nope,, can’t stop air travel from where it comes from. It’s already here.LikeLike

Sorry boys I’ve got to side with Joe on this one….I imagine that Saddams chemical munition troops were probably as piss poor at inventory control as the rest of his army was on the battlefield. I imagine if I started rummaging around the backyard where I work I could find a number of things that would be in violation of some treaty, agreement between governments, or internal directive.
I’m kind of surprised they didn’t find more!LikeLike

Wow, even I was amazed. 53 Fundraising events this year thus far from our Supreme Chancellor. Imagine how many gallons of jet fuel to get to all these parties, all of which being burnt had no effect on “climate change.” Between acquiring funds and golf, I can’t help but wonder how much “free” time is left over to actually solve some of the problems haunting our great nation. No need to worry though, plenty of appointed henchmen and henchwomen to do the heavy lifting.

Re Saddam’s WMD. We should recall that –
1. Pre-2003 Saddam regularly bragged of having lots of chemical WMDs.
2. He used nerve gas from his stockpile on his own people.
3. Our invasion was not a surprise, and we have tons of photographs of truck convoys headed to Syria before the invasion, which at the time were thought to be Saddam sending them to Assad for safe keeping.
4. Assad, who never before 2003 claimed WMD, suddenly had enough to use against his own people and declare a considerable stockpile for the UN inspectors.
5. That some dregs continue to be found in Iraq is not a surprise, because cleaning up large supplies dispersed across the country is hard; some things are bound to be left behind, especially if they were not carefully stored and inventoried. But finding these old chemical weapons at various places does confirm that a large stash existed in the country before 2003 just as Saddam bragged and then demonstrated.
None of this analysis will appear in the lamestream.LikeLike

It doesn’t matter. The media will have no problem sugarcoating the turd of the report, assuming the paper report even has the gonads to shed some light on the actual travesties of the deal. In the meantime, I will fervently enjoy the financial relief that comes from purchasing artificially low priced “election year gasoline,” and relish the fact that Nevada County’s largest election question deals specifically with the growing of medical marijuana.

Looks like “Aviation Leak” scooped Pelline on this one; the famed Lockheed Skunk Works think they are 5 prototype turns and five years from a commercially viable 100MW fusion reactor that could be transported by a truck.
http://aviationweek.com/technology/skunk-works-reveals-compact-fusion-reactor-details
If they pull it off this is a major disruptive technology akin to Watt’s steam engine; I would not want to be in the photovoltaic business or heavily invested in oil if and when that hits the fan. Think fusion electric trains, ships and in a distributed power grid.
Of course as always, the devil is in the details.LikeLike

I will just address the first two points and see what happens.
Re Saddam’s WMD. We should recall that –
1. Pre-2003 Saddam regularly bragged of having lots of chemical WMDs.
A- Both weapons inspectors Scott Ritter and Hans Blix stated Iraq didn’t have WMD’s program or capabilities.
B- Dick Cheney plus many key advisers and cabinet posts in George W Bush administrations were filled with Project for a New American Century signatories who has been advocating the overthrow of Saddam Hussein/ Iraqi government since its inception(Jeb Bush is member of PNAC). Maybe with their zeal they were blind to any intelligence that said otherwise. Actually many within the CIA said Dick Cheney was literally using his office to intimidate those within for evidence that supported PNAC mission. Valerie Plame outing and Joe Wison case is very much involved with this intimidation by Cheney.
C- Bush administration said they knew were the weapons were because they had proof.
September 16, 2002 – Iraq agrees unconditionally to the return of inspectors.
September 19, 2002 – Iraqi Foreign Minister Naji Sabri delivers a letter to the U.N. from Saddam Hussein stating that Iraq has no chemical, nuclear or biological weapons.
October 1, 2002 – The U.N. and Iraq agree on terms they say are consistent with existing U.N. resolutions. The U.S. threatens to veto unless a U.S. resolution is approved that would allow military action for non-compliance by Iraq.
November 13, 2002 – Iraq delivers a letter to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, accepting the terms set forth in resolution 1441.
November 27, 2002 – Inspections resume in Iraq.
December 7, 2002 – Iraq submits a 12,000 page report on its WMD programs.
January 20, 2003 – After two days of negotiation, Hans Blix, Mohamed ElBaradei, and Iraqi officials reach an agreement about Iraqi cooperation and concessions regarding the inspections.
March 18, 2003 – Inspectors withdraw from Iraq.
(DUE TO THE IMMINENT INVASION BY USA)B.Emery
March 20, 2003 – (local time) U.S. and coalition forces begin military action against Iraq.
October 2, 2003 – David Kay, who heads the U.S. search, reports to intelligence committees for both the House and Senate that the Iraq Survey Group has found no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Kay says he will need six to nine months to conclude his work.
January 28, 2004 – After retiring earlier in the month, David Kay tells the Senate Armed Services Committee that there should be an independent investigation into the flawed intelligence about Saddam Hussein’s weapons capability.
October 6, 2004 – The final Iraq Survey Group report is released. The report concludes that Saddam Hussein did not possess weapons of mass destruction.
December 2005 – U.S. inspectors end their search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
2. He used nerve gas from his stockpile on his own people.
A- With the US permission and help. As you will find out or you already know and just don’t want to admit it, I am not sure. The US 100% knew about the chemical warfare and in fact aided in it all throughout the 80’s with your hero Ronald Reagan administration. The Reagan administration removed Saddam Hussein from the terror list so we could start supporting with weapons and intelligence. At the same time the Reagan administration was illegally dealing weapons to Iran and then laundering the money through drug lords to illegally fund a war US Congress voted against.
The Reagan administration was the worst and most criminal administrations of the 20th Century hands down. All during that time the Reagan administration was aiding Osama bin Laden and what eventually evolved into the Taliban as well as al Qaeda in Afghanistan.
Here is a declassified report on the US involvement with Iraqi Chemical Warfare of the 1980’s. There is another report linking Saddam’s chemical weapons to the US along with their delivery systems. That report has been scrubbed from the internet but this other one I just found today is just as damning and actually more damning in the context of your argument.
http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2013/08/25/secret_cia_files_prove_america_helped_saddam_as_he_gassed_iran
On a side note the George H.W. Bush administration gave the ok to Saddam for going into Kuwait and were great admirers and friends with Saddam even after he gassed the his own people, what do you have to say about that?
Here is the transcript to the meeting with HW Bush Ambassador Glaspie.
July 25, 1990 – Presidential Palace – Baghdad
U.S. Ambassador Glaspie – I have direct instructions from President Bush to improve our relations with Iraq. We have considerable sympathy for your quest for higher oil prices, the immediate cause of your confrontation with Kuwait. (pause) As you know, I lived here for years and admire your extraordinary efforts to rebuild your country. We know you need funds. We understand that, and our opinion is that you should have the opportunity to rebuild your country. (pause) We can see that you have deployed massive numbers of troops in the south. Normally that would be none of our business, but when this happens in the context of your threat s against Kuwait, then it would be reasonable for us to be concerned. For this reason, I have received an instruction to ask you, in the spirit of friendship – not confrontation – regarding your intentions: Why are your troops massed so very close to Kuwait’s borders?
Saddam Hussein – As you know, for years now I have made every effort to reach a settlement on our dispute with Kuwait. There is to be a meeting in two days; I am prepared to give negotiations only this one more brief chance. (pause) When we (the Iraqis) meet (with the Kuwaitis) and we see there is hope, then nothing will happen. But if we are unable to find a solution, then it will be natural that Iraq will not accept death.
U.S. Ambassador Glaspie – What solutions would be acceptable?
Saddam Hussein – If we could keep the whole of the Shatt al Arab – our strategic goal in our war with Iran – we will make concessions (to the Kuwaitis). But, if we are forced to choose between keeping half of the Shatt and the whole of Iraq (i.e., in Saddam s view, including Kuwait ) then we will give up all of the Shatt to defend our claims on Kuwait to keep the whole of Iraq in the shape we wish it to be. (pause) What is the United States’ opinion on this?
U.S. Ambassador Glaspie – We have no opinion on your Arab – Arab conflicts, such as your dispute with Kuwait. Secretary (of State James) Baker has directed me to emphasize the instruction, first given to Iraq in the 1960′s, that the Kuwait issue is not associated with America. (Saddam smiles)LikeLike

If the cold fusion reactor is in fact a reality, then all the lefty funded and supported solar and wind farms are just scrap metal waiting to be processed at the scrap yard. This is not good PR for the global warmers, thus is not reported on by the lame stream press, which are on retainer to defend the Progressives, some times called Democrats.

Speaking of lame stream media, The layoffs are COMING.. Yet CNN has found religion and has hired a “token” Conservative, to try and save their bacon. Mike Rowe. Mr. Blue collar..
He who has no problem getting “dirty”. Hell! He took the job! And he made damned sure he going to get the big bucks. ( yet a good portion will go to his scholarship programs I believe.) Yet others at Communist News Network are getting the axe, ( place head here…)
Be it the no name underlings and not to talking heads who make millions a year. So much for pushing that LIB BS of “spread the wealth”.
HLN is doing the same. Nancy Grace may come off the rails come Fri. I just might tune in just to see her head explode.
Last one out the door at MSNBC,,, get the lights…..
Next stop Congress to ask for a bailout, or demand FOX get broken up to “make things fair”.
LIB news is in DEEP trouble. Even LIBS have abandoned the collective liars.
Being the mouthpiece for “O” and Co. has come back to bite.LikeLike

The Reagan administration was the worst and most criminal administrations of the 20th Century hands down.
UR funny! And I say that as someone not particularly enamored of Reagan.
(Not necessary to respond…..I know that you’re still miffed that I insulted your faith)LikeLike

Back in 2008, Rev./Gov. Mike Huckleberry said he was running a campaign to unite people, not demonize them. I guess in the ensuing years he’s had to ‘fess up that he never meant what he said… http://reason.com/archives/2014/10/14/mike-huckabee-social-conservatism-and-hy
I believe the writer brings up some issues that are dividing the Republican party, especially in light of the Pope’s recent utterances. Just wonderin’ if y’all conservatarians had any thoughts on the subject.LikeLike

Fish 606- It feels very much like the waning days of the peanut farmer, Iran screwing us, Russians on the march, Europe in instant indecision mode, an Asian economic competitor, military shrinkage in the face of growing threats, dilatants running the show. Could this repeat of the cycle of history be the confluence of events that pushes another Reagan into action to save the Country? Let’s pray it is!

Since we saw a Obama flip flop lie on the homosexual marriage issue, who gives a shit. The country is now run by unelected judges and the people’s votes don’t mean crap. Just wait until the judges rule on the legality of sodomy. Oops, they did. It is just fine with them. Huckabee is a fine man but I don’t think he would make a good Prez.

OK RL,,, Any one of the “Right” that was running for Prez. would have been a far cry better than the piece of work we have now. “O” has been more divisive that what Huckabee ever could be.
And I on’t think any Repub would shred the Constitution like “O” has.
Whatever this admin says,, count on the opposite to be true.
It doesn’t look like many LIBS are going to get elected this time around… Care to fathom why?
How bout those two LIBS who used guns to defend themselves? The true Lefties will not be happy about that. ( yet the same do their best to restrict John Q. Public from doing the same.) But it seems the one that fired the shots needs more time at the range. He missed the thug at close range.LikeLike

Famous quotes… You guess who
1. ObamaCare will cost less than 1 Trillion Dollars.
2. No one making under $250,000 will see their taxes raised one dime – period!
3. ObamaCare will not be offered to illegal immigrants.
4. Premiums will be lowered by $2500 bucks!
5. You can keep your family doctor – period!
7. You can keep your current healthcare plain – period!
8. Nobody is taking anything away from you – period!
9. I did not say you could keep your health care.
10. I am sorry you lost your healthcare that you people blame me for saying I said you could keep which I never said, but anyway, sorry ok? Look, just shop around.
Now that the people have been bit in the ass,, they are going to take it out on those that passed the law. ( remember “deem and pass”? and LIBS own it.)LikeLike

Ummm, no. Rossi blew his credibility in 2013; while I’d love to see “cold fusion” work and was 90% convinced by Rossi’s claims at one time, his past claims were clearly the result of completely incompetent calorimetry where the energy pulled out of the device appeared to be the energy put into it in order to start the claimed reaction and each successive failure to demonstrate a sustained reaction resulted in a more complicated apparatus that would store more heat to start. In short, while Rossi does appear convinced he’s chasing something real, he’s lost the attention of credible observers.
What Lockheed is doing is real fusion and they are spending real money to do it.LikeLike

Walt 7:51pm – Republicans will win by default. People in general don’t like them either, but they are the “other” in this election. If they do manage to gain the Senate majority I have no doubt they will make themselves so unpopular in two years they’ll be lucky to hold onto it any longer than that.

So nothing on the fact the US was aiding Saddam Hussein in chemical warfare all throughout the 1980’s?
Isn’t that one of the big justifications of invading/ occupying Iraq for a decade?
Read the reporting on it here and get the link to the actually declassified CIA papers. The last sentence of the excerpt should sting a little bit for you Reagan fans.

Investigation
Exclusive: CIA Files Prove America Helped Saddam as He Gassed Iran
The U.S. knew Hussein was launching some of the worst chemical attacks in history — and still gave him a hand.
Excerpt
“The intelligence included imagery and maps about Iranian troop movements, as well as the locations of Iranian logistics facilities and details about Iranian air defenses. The Iraqis used mustard gas and sarin prior to four major offensives in early 1988 that relied on U.S. satellite imagery, maps, and other intelligence. These attacks helped to tilt the war in Iraq’s favor and bring Iran to the negotiating table, and they ensured that the Reagan administration’s long-standing policy of securing an Iraqi victory would succeed. But they were also the last in a series of chemical strikes stretching back several years that the Reagan administration knew about and didn’t disclose.”LikeLike

Sometimes in foreign policy you have to pick your poison. Iraq? Iran? Hmmm. Who do we support? I guess Iraq. Just like Japan and Germany now Ben Emery. We had wars with them and now they are our pals. Just like a family. One day you like your brother, the next day you kick his ass. Get it?
