Since the CBO report on the latest estimate of Obamacare’s jobs destruction, all kinds of liberal spin doctors have leapt into the fray to interpret what that dubious group of legislative analysts have said. The fundamental message from Team Obama and loyal lackeys is that ‘No, no, you didn’t understand what the CBO really said’, and then they launch the tangled webs accepted by the Left as reasonable and reasoned explanations. One economic worthy at the White House actually stood in the press room and told the country that the CBO is really telling us about another magnificent benefit of Obamacare – in this case allowing the added 2.5M unemployed to be properly viewed as workers then “having a choice to not work full time any more.” (more here and here)
None of this could have been made up beforehand. If we take another look at Disney’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ scene at the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, then it quickly becomes clear that today’s progressive thought about public policy – its development, implementation, and interpretation – is already way beyond what that wild-eyed harebrain with the crazy hat had in mind.
The lamestream is jumping through hoops in their attempt to follow what comes out of the WH these days, and even out of the President’s own mouth as captured by Fox’s O’Reilly in his pre-Superbowl interview. NPR’s once-removed explanations of the beauties of the ACA while attempting to kiss their sponsor’s butt sound beyond silly. And NYT’s Krugman observing all this from another galaxy is just pure entertainment.
In the end what comes out is that Obamacare is what we expected it to be – another socialist program to increase the cadres of the permanently unemployed and unemployables who will make up the grass roots platoons of the next proletariat revolution. These new arrivals are then expected to join the existing cohort of dependent and desperately loyal voters who will support anyone who promises to increase but never interrupt their flow of handouts. That is the real message from the Democrat candidates in this election year who identify Obamacare as the main plank of their class war platform, no matter how contradictory the incoming data proves to be. These pocket-picking politicians have no other choice.
[11feb14 update] It just occurred to me while listening to the most recent of the unintended atrocities spewed out of Obamacare that ALL the forewarnings decried by progressives and the lamestream as ‘rightwing myths’ have come to pass, with yet more on the way. The same can be said for the impact of California’s AB32 where the only remaining myths are the ‘green jobs’ created by that ‘global warming act’. Instead we have had a rush for the exits by California corporations. This is even acknowledged by Governor Moonbeam who is desperately trying to remedy the situation without too much political embarrassment.
[14feb14 update] A correspondent in Washington state informed me that the folks up there are relieved to have discovered scriptural support for their recent concurrent votes legalizing gay marriage and the recreational use of marijuana. The gratifying and joyful verse comes from Leviticus 20:13, which in its newspeak version translates to ‘If a man lies with another man, he should be stoned.’
