The new sport in Washington played by Congress, unions, and big corporations is chipping away at Obamacare – causing chaos in the small business sector. Everyone wants to hide from the crap coming off the fan, and leave the other guy fully exposed. Already eight components of it have been delayed or canceled. And the liberals are still keeping a stiff public upper lip. Reason aside, as always.
Meanwhile, the Big O is asking Americans not to be so “cynical about our government”. Giving lie to that statement before inhaling, the President then promised to do a major overhaul to improve the efficiency of the federal government – a plan for "smarter government". Seat belts please. Abandoning any pretense of humility, he is going to make it run like the well-oiled machine that was his campaign (pick either one). Well there’s one part that he has already integrated beyond extraction, and that is Chicago style politics, starting with the Big Lie and the Bypass Congress two-step. The rest of the makeover will be harder, because in his campaign organization he could can those who couldn’t.
Nobody in Washington knows what to do about the government’s student loan program. According to the CBO, raising rates to 6.8% (to quietly help fund Obamacare) will still leave the program about $90B in the hole after 2020. Congressional Democrats are telling people not to look behind that curtain, and the lamestream has dutifully fallen in line. So now we have a formerly privately run program taken over by government so that it will cost less for the students and bring in a little for Treasury’s coffers. Turns out it will cost the students more, lose money in the process, and have the taxpayers again make up the difference. (Some still wonder why I use the term ‘sheeple’.)
The latest from the religion of peace is the wanton and spontaneous murder of three women in Pakistan, and one Coptic priest beheaded in Egypt. The mother and two daughters were butchered by townsfolk because the two girls were taped gleefully cavorting (dancing, gasp!) in a rain squall. The mother was included in the hat trick because, for some unknown reason, she apparently protested the butchering of her daughters. Now I’m still looking for a reasoned opposition to my plan that calls for sending them all a continuous supply of guns and grenades, along with timely satellite intelligence showing where concentrations of the opposing sects are hanging out.
Heard of the new Agenda21 compliant government environmental program called Blueways? So designating a river promises to go way beyond the ‘wild and scenic’ appellation now in practice. A Blueway river will contain all the lands included in its drainage basin, which, of course, will eventually have to be ‘preserved’ from, you guessed it, you and me. The initiative, quietly introduced in 2012, is now drawing some attention because states and landowners are beginning to fight this latest encroachment on property rights (more here). Environmentalists advise not looking too closely behind this curtain also.
The July 2013 issue of the prestigious IEEE Spectrum contains the feature piece asking ‘Are Electric Cars Really Green?’. The quick answer in 'Unclean at Any Speed' is a robust NO. But the details of the proof are way beyond the abilities of the environmental faithful to comprehend – most due to misconfigured neural structures, but some due to not wanting to look at the evidence.

To put a bow on it, Bret Stephens in the 9jul13 WSJ asks ‘Can Environmentalists Think?’ Resolving the question in their favor and long argued in these pages, the answer is again a clear NO (else we’d have to put them all in the evil column). The latest evidence comes from the crude oil train wreck in Lac-Megantic, Quebec. This edition of the expensive pipeline on rails went off the same when someone forgot to set the handbrake before going for a beer or whatever. But the point comes back to the enormous amount of oil that is transported via tank cars across North America because environmentalists don’t understand utility theory and wouldn’t know what to do with it, were it tattooed on their backsides. Their religion is strong, and a main tenet is still to stop the construction of pipelines like the Keystone XL. Better to run those trains through populated areas. When was the last time a pipeline caused so much death, destruction, and pollution in North America?
[10jul13 update] An update on the fundamental transformation of America would be incomplete without recording that our government has now brought the nation to a state wherein 101M need some form of food aid ranging from school lunches to food stamps. This brings it up to about one in every three Americans. That's progress indeed and the direction is clear. Now where were we in vilifying those who actually pay for all this food?
[11jul13 update] This baby just refuses to abort. Now we learn that Congress is about to be presented with a report on Obama’s long form birth certificate that the White House floated way back when, and hoped would pass muster. Well that it did with the all the Fundamental Transformers, but the rest of us, who took a look at the sophomoric attempt, quickly pronounced it an obvious fraud (here). Well, one of Obama’s own crew, “certified handwriting analyst and forensic document examiner” Mr Reed Hayes, has been asked to examine the evidence and has pronounced the released long form a blatant forgery. (Full disclosure, I too have credentials, both academic and work experience, in signal processing and image analysis, which were not overworked in assessing said 'certificate'.) In a sworn affidavit Hayes states –
“…based on my observations and findings, it is clear that the Certificate of Live Birth I examined is not a scan of an original paper birth certificate, but a digitally manufactured document created by utilizing material from various sources, … In over 20 years of examining documentation of various types, I have never seen a document that is so seriously questionable in so many respects. In my opinion, the birth certificate is entirely fabricated.” (more here, and H/T to reader)
