You know you’re old when you realize that there’s a good chance that your pets will survive you.

Benghazi is not going away.  Hillary’s ‘what difference does it make?!’ tantrum in front of the Senate is coming back in spades to haunt (and worse?) this administration.  Meanwhile, the WH continues to lie through its teeth claiming not to have silenced the survivors who are now being interviewed by Senators (here) and telling quite a different story of having been told to shut their mouths during the last five months.  This adds more to the pile of evidence that Team Obama is corrupt, incompetent, and perverse.  Readers hewing to the lamestream are being spared all this.

Stay tuned to see how Kerry handles the ‘it didn’t happen on my watch’ as the survivors tell us how the Libyan terror strike was mis-managed from the gitgo – Hillary call your campaign headquarters.  And the liars still maintain that Al Qaeda is a shadow of its former self as it spreads and strengthens in ALL quarters.

DHS with MRAPs and billion bullet buys.  Speaking of the lamestream, that branch of our Fourth Estate has achieved the status of your local high school newspaper as far as currency is concerned.  For almost a year they have fastidiously ignored the news of what federal agencies are doing to apparently prepare for civil insurrection in America (here).  Now we begin to see reports (here) in various outlets evincing surprise and finally acknowledging the obvious, much asked, and ignored questions.  Not the brightest bulbs on the tree, but their progressive agenda does explain away why liberals are so out of touch when talking about current affairs.  Sounding lame probably comes from restricting your news sources to the lamestream and their blogging echo chambers.

Cyprus taxes bank deposits.  So, does anyone out there believe that the Tuesday taxing of Cypriot bank accounts will really be a "one-off", and that government money grab will not be repeated in other failing EU countries (here and here)?  And is the Atlantic wide enough to prevent the progressives (and their Democrat surrogates) from succumbing to that disease on our shores, especially with the crowd that now 'works' at 1600 Pennsylvania?

George– I’d be interested to see what evidence the press withheld when it covered “the lies and slight(sic) of hand that led up to the invasion of Iraq under false pretenses.”
The credibility of the sources. Journalists like Judith Miller, formerly with NY Times, she was fired, who passed on “leaks” without vetting of any kind..

There are some non-profit journalistic endeavors like Mother Jones, The Nation, Democracy Now! that provide cutting edge investigative reporting. Of course, many conservatives would label them as liberal rags because they don’t happen to like the information presented, which is the purpose of the good old liberal press label myth, to provide deniability based on bias.
But in my opinion, non-profit news gathering organizations are the antidote to corporate media or as you call it , the lamestream, and on that we agree.

JoeK 704pm – I was not aware that The Nation was a non-profit operation. I wonder who are its contributors. But one thing that I fully agree with their editorial policy is their rejection of that popular myth of “balanced reporting”. Truth is where reason and the facts lead you, and there is no guarantee of balance whatsoever in such pursuits.

Mr. Paul E concerning your 10:26 post. We (the collective we) definitely do not learn from history and thus it repeats itself. That S&L disaster I remember well. Wasn’t John Cain one of the Keating 5 along with another prominent Democrat senator? Pass some laws and dust off your hands of the whole matter and all is good…NOT!
The last real estate bubble was easier to predict, though I did not see all the parts of the puzzle.. I saw a bad paper crisis coming, but did not see the whole picture. The way those subprime slims were mixed in with other mortgages and bought and sold numerous times within days made me shake my head when some of the brightest were paying a dollar for 97 cents worth of paper. Only thing to do with that is to off the paper to some pension fund ASAP.. Even a dumb shit like me could tell you it is “Danger Will Robinson!” when you are loaning to folks that have no visible means of support and those with a current horrible credit history or those what simply stated they made a 100k without one shred of proof. The scope of it caught me off guard, not that the paper would be worth 20-30 cents on the dollar. There is blood on thousands of hands on that one.
Now we are back into the early stages of another housing bubble, albeit it is just in some markets but the staggering boxer is finding his rhythm. Pass some laws and it won’t happen here….NOT!
You should start at the Tea Pot Dome Scandal, not the S&L Scandal and every 5-8 years you will see a nice pattern. History repeats itself cause some out there think they are smarter than the last bunch. Kinda like those that yearn of true Socialism as an example. It failed cause our forefathers did it the wrong way or did not try hard enough, or they weren’t gifted with the new wave’s special insight. The result is history repeats itself.
You would think after Bernie M, people would have their radar up. Never. The most likely folks to fall for a big con are those who have preciously fell for the big con. Two more Ponzi scheme busts in the last 3 days.
No use blaming the Dems or the Republicans as long as human nature is wrought with greed and self absorption and one humongous ego.

George–8:26 — The Nation has a non-profit arm called Nation Associates that funds independent investigations.

Cyprus was having fun, fun, fun until her Daddy took her T-Bird away. Russians say no mas, Germany says no way Jose, and the EU says boom, boom, out goes the lights.
Sooner or later you got to kick the deadbeats off the couch. Who cares if they leave in a huff, just as long as they leave. At least there is one nation left in Euroland that is not too big to fail.

JoeK 929am – Then is it correct to say The Nation really is a for profit leftwing publication that gets content from a similarly motivated “arm” that is funded by a similarly oriented organization called Nation Associates (whose source of funding is not known)?
