Last night at Penny’s Diner CABPRO put on a fine feed to a full house that featured our Assemblyman Dan Logue as guest speaker.  The event was hosted by CABPRO’s executive director Martin Light.  In attendance were all the usual conservative suspects from our community and parts nearby (a few of them pictured here with the Assemblyman).  Some of the take away points from Dan’s talk that found their way into my notes were –

– Private enterprise is the greatest threat to government, because it shrinks as private enterprise grows.
– Gov Brown does not believe that California is over regulated.  But Brown needs to declare a regulatory emergency for the state to allow recovery to begin.
– Gov Brown will have to shut down CARB’s AB32 implementation, he will have no other choice.
– Democrats sell multi-year spending programs by highlighting first year compensating tax or spending cuts that leave the out years generating deficits.
– Dan Logue is starting a watchdog organization to monitor and report on California’s regulatory environment.
– Conservatives need to aggressively meet the progressives in the public arena of ideas and debate.  Even though it is not part of conservative culture, attacks from the left should never go unanswered.
– Public sector unions pay members to travel to distant venues to testify at hearings and commissions for decisions that wind up costing taxpayers.
– The next four years will determine the long-term future of our country.
– Illegal aliens are currently costing California a net $11B annually.
– California’s middle class is moving out.  Coastal communities contain the wealthy liberal elite and their service cadres.

Other goings on included CABPRO presenting Dan Logue with its Advocate of the Year award.  Former county supervisor John Spencer was introduced as CABPRO’s newest board member.  More on Russ Steele’s NCMW here.
