TaxIncreases

We can’t help but be out front, in whatever direction we’re heading.  As California dives for the mud, it is pushing harder than ever on the accelerator by raising taxes, fees, and regulations.   The disinformation on Prop23 to suspend the remainder of AB32 – California’s carbon cap n’ tax on steroids – is going through the roof with our formerly Republican governator leading the chorus.  Check out the national tax and debt scene here to see how California stacks up.

The only thing that seems to be countering this as the election approaches is membership in the various tea party movements.  The WSJ reports that “The tea-party movement has emerged as a potent force in American politics and center of gravity within the Republican Party, with a large majority of Republicans showing an affinity for the small-government movement, a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll has found.”  (more here)

One response to “California’s Ups and Downs”

I once did a mini-study of fees and exaction’s and fees when I was running CABPRO back in the 90’s. I scoured every bill, every invoice and all the special districts and local governments. When I was done it was incredible how much we all pay in these itty-bitty (in some cases) amounts. It was a few years later that the Congress, under the Republicans, removed the tax levied during the Spanish American War. The totals didn’t even contain bonds. So until the people feel the personal pain the politicians will keep slipping those dollars out of our pockets.
