Good news comes again from Europe according to a Reuters and a Guardian.com report from Berlin (thanks to an RR reader for this). It is of a piece for our socialist leaders in Washington who have had a keen eye on all the advances made by our friends across the pond. We will simply follow the lead of their demonstrated progress to get a handle on all those problems caused by that pesky free-wheeling capitalism that has too long ruled these shores.
First, for creating green jobs we will duplicate Spain’s leadership in this venture. They only destroyed two plus regular jobs for every new green job created; well worth the cost. Then, England’s lead in socialized healthcare is unquestioned at 1600 Pennsylvania where that medical monstrosity has morphed itself into “a seductress” in the eyes of our president and his new Chief Rationer.
After that, we pop over to sunny Greece and see how they took care of their bloated public service employee union pension liabilities – simply put the bite on your neighbors, and don’t think about tomorrow when the new debt comes due. Get with the program, why do you think God invented China?
And now for the piece de resistance – fossil-free energy. Here Germany has claimed to crack the code, and will step forward to become the 100% renewable energy’s spear chucker for the world as it achieves this goal by 2050. All we have to do is keep emulating those crafty Europeans and our problems are over, or at worst they’ll be just like they’re over over there. Things are looking up.
Now if we can only get some of that ARRA money to start stimulating our neck of the woods. Unemployment here is still over 12% despite all the millions that our local liberals claim have flowed into Nevada County. These dollars are important we are told, since it is only government stimulus that will restart job creation. But not to worry, we are a small county and easy to overlook. Soon they’ll get around to us. And we don’t need the big bucks, just a little more of that hopeful change will get us going. I’m sure it’s a comin’.
