The Border Patrol has discovered the age-old utility of horses on broad open country.  The agent on a horse has all kinds of advantages over the on-foot illegal alien and/or drug runner.  The agents are able to use the natural senses and sensibility of the horse to pursue, detect, corral, and herd the bad guys who show up on the sophisticated thermal imaging and other kinds of sensors that are deployed along our border with Mexico.  The critters work so well that the Border Patrol is now worried that Congress will not provide them with enough funding for horses to do the job.  Hell, if those scumbags won’t, we should set up a 501c3 collection trust and send them all the nags they need.

Most heartening to me in the Fox News report was the uniformed latino Border Patrol officer giving the interview in a pronounced Hispanic accent.  He extolled the virtues of the new equestrian project and expanded enthusiastically on how it will enhance the security of “our country’s borders”.  Hearing him say it that way choked me up – I could hear in him my father’s heavily accented English, the voice of an American patriot.  There is yet a glimmer.

The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change continues its retrenchment in spite of the cacophony of ‘all is well’ from its halo of know-nothing true believers.  The IPCC has now called for a “do-over” of its global warming results.  But true to form, it is still entrenched in its cemented conclusion that 1) earth is warming unnaturally 2) to historically new levels 3) due primarily to CO2 emissions from human activity 4) which can be corrected by means we know how to manage 5) that involve the coerced draconian reduction of human CO2 emissions in only a subset of developed countries 6) which will not cripple the world’s economies, but instead 7) will give rise to a new age of economic growth based on government mandated green jobs and industries 8) the sustainability of which are anything but proven.  If this is still so, then why call for a do-over?

By any objective measure, Harry Reid would be one of the biggest scumbags in Congress.  Today he continued to burnish this image by looking squarely into the cameras, and telling the country that he didn’t know why the Repubs were talking about a reconciliation vote being planned for Obamacare.  According to ol’ Harry, it has never crossed the lips of any Dems, and is all a scare tactic from across the aisle.  Meanwhile, from the other chamber Nancy was in front of the mikes telling everyone that this was exactly the way that the progressives were going to foist Obamacare.  And to put a ribbon on it, Obama’s resident silver-tongue Robert Gibbs was corroborating it all on the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue.  It seems to me that Harry’s in enough trouble back in Nevada, so shouldn’t some of his ‘friends’ clue him in, or have they already thrown him under the bus?
