Britains’s Climate Research Unit hack, noted here and elsewhere on the blogs, is beginning to unravel the position of the True Believers more and more.  Anthony Watts (Watts Up With That) published the latest discoveries from the ‘global warming software’ that was made public against the years’ long efforts of the ‘scientists’ involved.  The short version is that they used their programs to generate crap.

There are three distinct groups involved here – 1) scumbag ‘scientists’, 2) True Believers, 3) sleazebag politicians.  Groups 2 and 3 are ignorant of earth’s climatology and climate modeling.  I grant that Group 2 probably consists of good-hearted, well-meaning people concerned about humanity, but they possess neither the knowledge nor the tools to understand how the AGW issue is framed, let alone proved.  They just listen to Groups 1 and 3, and then join the damaging background chorus.  Group 3 doesn’t really care about the science or humanity.  For them it is all about power and control, starting with maintaining and/or advancing their own political careers.  These pols are mostly composed of but not limited to progressives and collectivists.

And then there’s Group 1.  These guys have degrees, published papers, and positions that give cover to Groups 2 and 3.  They consist of technical types who don’t know what they don’t know and prattle on, and then the real scumbags are the ones who know what they don’t know and do ‘science’ with the intent to defraud – i.e. cook up pre-ordained results.

Since scientists are not saints, the way science stays on the straight and narrow is through merciless peer review.  Scientists make their bones by not only inventing new and better descriptions of how the world works, but also by deflating previous descriptions (theories) that everyone thought were true.  When you do your science under a fog bank, then warning bells should and do go off in the science community.  They should also go off in the rest of society, but often don’t.

Climate science that supports anthropogenic global warming has been done under wraps for some years now – ever since we switched from the ‘global cooling’ alarums of the 1970s to ‘just kidding, it’s really global warming’ that started in the 1980s.  In the 1990s leftwing politicians seized on AGW as the perfect storm for expanding state control and globalization.  From there on it was all political, and it switched into high gear with the patently fraudulent UN sponsored IPCC report picked up by self-serving shills like Al ‘The Debate is Over’ Gore.

As described in great detail elsewhere, it seems that the annotated temperature analysis code was blatantly doctored to insert bad data so the rising temperature hockey stick could be generated to serve as the world’s easy-to-understand poster child of global warming.  For years a whole cohort of reputable scientists have been pointing out the errors in the IPCC report, the bad climate science, and the heretofore hidden computer models that, we have been told, foretell all those future disasters.

Now before we all go and start popping corks to celebrate the demise of Waxman-Markey (cap and tax) and California’s draconian AB32 legislation, some more sobering reality enters into this mix.  No matter the verity of the fraudulent code, the political machine is still under full steam to assault America’s sovereignty and economic viability.  The Copenhagen fiasco is still scheduled to come off in December with unknown deals that Obama has made with other like-minded world leaders.  And none of the political types (Group 3 above) can stand to show the egg on their face in public.  They will do all that is necessary to submerge this revelation and hide truth – remember ‘The Debate is Over’.  And the leftwing media will work hand in glove to make sure that as little as possible of this will see the light of day.

It will be up to individual informed citizens in large numbers calling/writing to their electeds to report these findings and slow down the madness.
