Like all politically correct people in the country, at our house every morning we wake up to NPR news and commentary (locally KXJZ 90.9FM). We get our snoot full of the day’s leftwing litany right from the gitgo; don’t mess with us, we’re up to date in Kansas City. Besides, it’s always good to wake up with a laugh or shaking your head in disbelief, clears out the cobwebs.
This morning the NPR national news informed us that Van Jones had resigned because in a speech he had referred to all Republicans as “assholes”, and that because the Right had launched a “smear campaign” that he could not properly fight as an Obama administration official, without diverting the energies of the administration from its adopted direction. Of course, NPR didn’t explicitly identify the orifice that he pointed out so colorfully, but anyone who follows national affairs will have seen the video of that Jones speech several times as this story played out last week.
However, that was not why Obama dropped him, public figures have called members of all our political parties names equivalent to and much worse without having to start mailing out a new batch of resumes. So that was Lie #1.
The Right did launch a campaign asking why Obama had surrounded himself with the likes of Van Jones. Since no name calling occurred or charges against Jones were made, other than displaying the public record of his writings, speeches, and statements in print, audio, and video, the “smear campaign” was really the recounted history of how the man has soiled himself over the last twenty plus years.
Obama chose him to set up and direct the nation’s new socialist program of creating “green jobs” that according to Jones were going to liberate minorities by providing them work they could not otherwise get in this “racist country”. Everyone immediately understood what kind of jobs a self-declared socialist/communist (your pick), who has never worked at a real job in his life, would create. I really think Obama breathed a sigh of relief when Glenn Beck of Fox News ran the series that exposed Van Jones and some Obama insiders as being radical socialist revolutionaries with well defined plans for our society that had long lain latent. Maybe Bob Gibbs even sent Beck some of the juicer pieces on Jones. Van the Man was a self-improvised explosive device that was bound to go off sooner or later. With all of Obama’s other current problems, sooner was better.
So NPR’s omission of the real reason for the dismissal was Lie #2. Both were smoothly delivered in less than a minute.
But here’s the brilliant part of Obama tossing Van under the van – the MSM is dutifully hiding the real reasons for the dismissal, and its occurrence during the Labor Day weekend followed by a week of nationwide Obama speeches would consign Jones into history’s dustbin without the real dust-up that this revelation of Obama’s minions deserves. So there’s a good chance that everything can be buried with Van, and no one will even wave good-bye as the green and yellow Waste Management truck pulls out of the White House driveway early Tuesday morning.
If the Republicans let that dust settle according to Obama’s plan, then they are exactly the dolts that the Democrats make them out to be. Besides highlighting Jones’ real background and agenda, as Fox News pointed out, there’s a lot more in Obama’s circle of czars than only the dear departed Jones.
So it turns out that you shouldn’t also believe everything you don’t hear on NPR.
The ‘in-depth’ segment that followed this morning’s NPR news was a put-piece to promote unions as the champion of America’s workers, and the source of all goodness and light in this country’s workplace. This was done by a VERY friendly interview with Richard Trumka, the current AFL-CIO Treasurer-Secretary who is favored to replace Sweeney as the union’s next president.
Trumka gave a view of the gains unions have made in the country that could only have come from notes taken during his last wet dream. He extolled the statistic that, on the average, union members get paid 30% more than their non-union counterparts for doing the same work, and looked forward to the day when all workers would be so blessed in a unionized America. Not a clue in that head why private sector unions have been driving their employers out of business, and why unionized government workers are threatening to drive governments out of business for the same reason.
His proudest revelation during the interview was disclosing undisputed evidence that companies did everything they could to reduce the number of jobs and the people they hired. Well no sh__ Red Ryder! And this dufus is a member of the Democratic Party’s brain trust, and may soon be on the Board of Directors of your regional Federal Reserve?!
Thinking of America’s future, I feel a tear coming to me eye – please pass the Kleenex.
