 Teaparty

Well, April Fools Day is fast approaching, and on that appropriately named day many Americans will join the national tea party tax revolt by sending our electeds a simple yet elegant message that they are now spending us all into an egalitarian poverty.  To join the party, just drop a tea bag into an envelope and mail it.  Repeat the process until all your representatives have the wherewithal to brew a cup of tea, and quietly ruminate about what they are doing to our country.

Here is a little inspirational message before you send your teabags to Washington to arrive on or before 15 April 2009.  Jo Ann and I are putting our return addresses on the envelopes, so that we will be counted.

And here is a website that will give you the snailmail addresses of your congressional electeds.  President Obama can be reached at The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, Washington DC.

George, I have tea party fever. I included the following quote with my tea bags- “The state is the great fictitious entity by which everyone seeks to live at the expense of everyone else.” -Frederick Bastiat
This will be a part of “arts and craft time” at our house tonight with the kids; I don’t want to waste such an opportunity to teach our kids about the evil that is big government.

George, if it’s not too late you may not want to send the actual tea bags because they will not make it beyond the Marysville or West Sacramento Postal Processing Centers. A while back I heard anything bulky, organic or containing electronics in envelopes are considered a problem by the USPS. I’d suggest sending the teabag “tag” at the end of the string or the box top from Lipton or another tea company. Same message and more likely to get through. Martin

Thanks for the good pointers and thoughts Martin and Mikey. Our letters are sealed but have yet to be mailed. I guess we’ll slit them open and just mail the bag and tag. For the younger generation, we used to be able to send all kinds of bulky things in first class envelopes as long as the envelope didn’t break and the weight matched the stamps. With every passing year the restrictions just keep on tightening.

George, everything changed post 9/11 and after that anthrax powder attack the month following. Try sending one of those musical greeting cards through the mail. The two we’ve mailed in the past couple years arrived at their destination but the electronics destroyed. Such is life in today’s “modern age”. Martin

we dropped our letters off at the post office, they had no problems with them with tea bags, just needed a little extra postage.
